    Meetups? Locations?

Hi, it seems there is a desire to find ways of increasing activity here.

When I was an active member of a motorcycling forum, there were all the sections, like those here, on how-tos, modifications, etc. Once all the basics are covered though, there's not much to be added to these areas on a regular basis. This is all covered well here, and we seem to have a bit of discipline in not repeating the same facts/ information all offer the place, which mean the post counts are relatively low.

What worked well for the biker site was arranging local rides, where members in or near the route could join a route for all or part of a day, with meal and drinks breaks to socialise and discuss biking stuff. There are not a large number of members here, but maybe an area where similar flying or non-flying meet ups could be arranged (subject to interest/availability) and/or where good flying locations could be suggested? Areas where the locals are not likely to be upset/ great scenery/ good car parking spots for access to and routes to flying sites?

    Just a thought...
Flying a P2 2.4GHz with Zenmuse H3-2D, Hero3+ Black, Fatshark 250mW, Black Pearl Diversity, Stock antennas so far.

Its a good idea and I have had a number of meets with fellow pilots. Looks like the current membership is pretty well spaced out though.
I fly Phantom 2 with Gopro 3 Black, Zenmuse, Imersion RC600, Black Pearl Monitor.

Yes, we are all a bit spread out - it has struck me though that the majority of the recent posters on here are all from the UK. The US members probably think we must then just be a short distance away from each other but there is a spread north to south. Simon is probaby located the most centrally so maybe we should all descend on him (preferably without warning) - suprise, surprise

ps (o/t) - what happened to iDrone ? - he was active sorting stuff out early on but I have not seen him post recently

on a serious note, a meet up would not really work for me. Unfortunately swmbo does not share my enthusiasm for flying and as she has quite a demanding job all our holiday time is meticulously planned out. Suprisingly she seems to want to spend her free time with me so I am rarely let off the lead !

Frank, it was/is foc-u.co.uk for (Yamaha) Fazer Owners Club- Unofficial, and it was there that I started the user name mikerbiker, which has followed me around. I sold the Fazer several years ago for a Suzuki V-Strom 1000, but the V-Strom forums don't have the same atmosphere.

Which begs the question, are you a biker too?

Yes sir. I sold a large motorcycle drag racing forum at the end of 2011, then built another which I still own and admin. Been involve in motorcycle drag racing just over 35yrs now. I now longer ride or race, and my last bike was a turbo charged suzuki hayabusa with 600hp to the rear tire. I thought I posted this yesterday.

    Meetup subforum would be cool
I've met a few people from other forums to fly with them thanks to a 'meetup' threads.

Obviously anyone could start a thread, but it would be easier to spot if it was a sub perhaps.
